This one’s been around for a while

Here’s a victim who got scammed, and is complaining to the real Microsoft about the fake Microsoft, not knowing that they are fake.

The Google Maps listing is backed by images and reviews from “Earth Local” and “Geek Ads,” who also provided images for “Microsoft 365.” But instead of answering as Microsoft, the bhenchods introduce themselves as employees from “Geek of States, LLC,” who have been on our radar since January 4, 2024, when they were caught listing (800) 674-9008 as a number for the “Microsoft Support Center.”

The company is registered as operating out of 1571 The Queensway, Unit B., Etobicoke, Ontario, M8Z 1T8, Canada, though they also falsely claim to operate out of 30 N. Gould St, Sheridan, Wyoming. The company is listed as a partner on Microsoft AppSource.

The company also operates under their trademarked name of “1800 Geek” under the leadership of

  • Rosemary McCoy, who resides at 2854 Monticello Mews
    Mississauga ON L5N 4A2, Canada.
  • Gaurav Chaudhary, who resides in an apartment at the Story of Brampton Central at 2003-205 Queen St E, Brampton ON L6W 0C8, Canada.

It is also worth pointing out that Chaudhary has contributed photos for the aforementioned “Microsoft 365” Google Maps listing and that the company was recently caught promoting their services through fraudulent “Microsoft Support Center” webpages.

Dear Austin,

As a self-proclaimed journalism graduate from RIT, I have several questions for you before our legal team proceeds with sending you a formal notice to your address, as well as to your hosting and domain providers, for violations of our trademark rights.

  1. Unauthorized Sharing of Personal Information: Who granted you permission to publicly post my and others’ home addresses on this platform? As a Canadian citizen, I have the legal right to keep my personal information private and secure.

  2. Proof of Canadian Presence: Last year, we provided you with proof that we are based in Canada and operate from our physical office. Here is the link for reference: Proof of Presence.

  3. Trademark Violation: “1800GEEK” is our registered trademark with the USPTO, and you do not have authorization to use it in any capacity without our permission.

  4. Abuse of Publicly Posted Contact Information: We have a diverse staff, and you, along with others, are abusing the phone numbers have made public by contacting us without legal grounds. Posting our contact information publicly opens the door for such misuse.

  5. **Suspicious Behavior of User @Jim The user @Jim appears to be a scammer. They recently joined your platform and immediately began posting defamatory content about us. This raises concerns that scammers could use your platform to harm other businesses.

  6. Authorized Partnerships: We are an official partner with major brands, including Microsoft, HP, and Dell, and we hold reseller rights for their products.

  7. User Suspension: By suspending the account @geekofstates, you are preventing us from presenting our side of the story. It seems as though you are acting as a judge, issuing orders without hearing our perspective.

  8. Monopoly Concerns: Are you receiving compensation from Best Buy Geek Squad or JustAnswer to establish a monopoly in the tech support industry in the United States and Canada? It appears that you are labeling every other business as a scam, despite the hundreds of negative reviews about those services, while never posting about them on your platform.

  9. Legitimate Business Practices: Our agents begin conversations by stating “Geek of States”—a legal and proper way to initiate communication. We operate with a physical office in Canada, hold our own trademark, and only accept credit card payments, which provide customers with the ability to dispute charges for up to six months in the event of issues. If this is not considered a legitimate way of doing business, I fail to see what could be.

I request immediately remove these posts and implement moderation to ensure the legitimacy of this platform.

Sincerely,
Rosemary

To address some of your points on others behalf:

Simply incorrect, as we are primarily based in the United States, we enjoy a lot more freedoms that you may not have in Canadian land. One being freedom of speech, everything posted on-site falls under this category, including the posting of your trademark. Please explain how we have infringed on your trademark rights, citing specific U.S. law.

Public information is publicly available, sharing of such information also would also likely fit under the first amendment. If you do not have people calling your phone numbers, probably best to not have them? Or at least, not public. If you are worried about misuse due to them being here, cooperate with the admin team. Both Austin and I are not the admins, our privacy policy is free and open for anyone with complaints to view, as well as instructions on contact information.

Baseless accusation that is simply not true. Firstly, Jim has been a pretty active of our community for almost half a year. Please point out how he has defamed you, or has “proven” to be a scammer.

For the sake of cooperation, I have temporarily lifted the suspension on the account, at least until things can be cleared up and settled.

What the actual fuck is this even supposed to mean?

In addition to things, I will, for now, de-list this thread until matters how sorted.

@geekofstates @rosemary

I feel like giving you 72 hours to properly respond to us is fair.

Your company as a whole has been spoken about on this site since at least March of this year, there has been plenty of evidence posted against you, which even when confronted on about, you ignored it.

@NeeP has also spoken to you, a site admin, and it would seem he agrees you guys are operating an illegitimate business due to the several cases of impersonation and misrepresentation.

I highly suggest you use this time allotted to you to come up with a comprehensive and cohesive rebuttal to the main evidence(s) against you (that being of impersonation and misrepresentation (aka fraud)). And please for the love of all things holy, don’t fucking use AI in your response.

I do sincerely apologize for the delay, but I would like to personally address some key points from what you and @Chronus typed.

While true, Canadian law doesn’t apply to us or our platform as we largely operate out of the United States of America. This personal information of yours was logged due to the overwhelming amount of evidence against you and your company.

While I do sincerely apologize for this discrepancy, one thing I would like to point out is that you never showed us the interior of your Canadian office nor any employees taking calls from there. You’ve already proven to physically operate in Canada, but it could still be possible that calls are answered by an overseas call center.

You might not authorize it, but my use of your trademarks can easily be constituted as nominative fair use under United States Law. For more information on fair use, please turn to Fair use - Wikipedia

We never made those numbers publicly available. You shared those numbers to the public and, in some instances, fraudulently labeled them as official Microsoft support numbers.

This is a blatant lie, as @Jim joined our forum on September 17, 2024. While we do screen posts from users like @Jim to prevent defamatory posts from being made publicly available on our forum, I conducted a thorough investigation into his findings and found them to be completely valid.

However, it appears that someone at your company was quick to delete the Google Maps listing @Jim used as evidence to back up his claims. Such an act of evidence tampering with the intent to interfere with an investigation is considered a criminal offense in many jurisdictions, meaning you would be charged with a misdemeanor or felony here in the United States, with a maximum possible sentence of 20 years in prison.

While you are proven to be a partner on Microsoft AppSource, you have failed to provide evidence to support your claims of being partnered with Dell and Hewlett-Packard.

Our platform isn’t funded by those large tech companies, but we are funded by the generous donations from our users on ko-fi.com/scammerinfo. And I personally find it funny that you called us out for defamation just for presenting facts about the matter and, later on, made a libelous claim of us being funded by big tech.

While much of what you presented is true, it is also true that your company fraudulently promoted your phone numbers as being official support numbers of Microsoft, even going as far as to use stock footage of a Microsoft store on the associated Google Maps listings. And I’d stop acting like a goody-two-shoes at this point, given that the reviews on the now-deleted listing that I traced back to you guys this past January indicated that you were facilitating a standard Microsoft technical support scam, charging customers as much as $250 to fix their nonexistent problems.

why our post not getting approved , even user @rosemary and her reply is disappeared as she put some insight

we did not removed anything or any content its removed by google this morning as they are investigating the same

in our advertising we never use word like official or we never claimed that official support , every calls getting record and we take this very serious
our adverting says Microsoft 365 center only

here is something interesting about you guys

now requested to remove this thread from here , we also sent an email for removal request but no response from an admin

I have checked the logs and found that the user was deleted by @JusticeinTexas, who was completely unaware of our ongoing investigation.

The Quora post you linked was made by Dale Jake Corner, who has long been known to defame our platform as being used by sex offenders and to distribute malware. Corner has even gone as far as to falsely accuse the forum’s original owner, @thunder, of being a pedophile simply because he’s a furry.

well @rosemary replied the many points if you can reinstate her account & post back

also we want to file a formal removal request of this thread here

as @rosemary explained in detail how we saved 1000 people from scams like popup, refund , gifrcard, crypto in 2024 , we also report some scams to FBI & FTC where a user lost all his life saving in a crypto scam ,

we are also fighting with many scammers everyday , we request to delete this thread here .
and request for a tough moderation of any post to keep legitimacy of this great platform

Error 404, explaination not found.

It is also worth pointing out that “Rosemary” appears to be an alt account of yours due to the shared IP address…

well its same office internet but not an ALT account she created after i approached her to handle this as this account was suspended with a abuse note

here is some points
as you guys have issue with our advertising pattern let me explain that we never used words like official we always explained that we are Microsoft partner , even in advertising we cant use word like official as we are not , we pay heavy amount to Microsoft to buy licenses and packages which we resell and as a partner we have rights to use logos and AI genrated images ,

while advertising says as Microsoft 365 center , we have to use such terms in order to genrate leads as people dont search geek of states on google they search Microsoft 365 renew and in order to get leads we have to use such headlines but our ads always says Buy Microsoft 365 -Geek Of States

there is no fraud or scam where anyone lost money with us , we never used Gift cards or anything which is non refundable , we have a 30 days no question asked refund policy and user can dispute any charges with card issuer in 180 days.

we never represent us as Microsoft support or official support for Micosoft

we are abide by US and Canada Laws as also got trademark registered at USPTO that means we are following laws and rules in order to established our own brand in this industry.

Oh really? You have a physical office in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada, but the IP address was traced back to Kansas City, Missouri. Last I checked, you are listed on Bizapedia as operating out of 30 N. Gould St., Sheridan, Wyoming, 82801 under Registered Agents, Inc.

are we investigating the IP addresses here ?

If you are able to provide a screenshot, please do so. Just know, however, that whatismyipaddress.com doesn’t list your IP address as belonging to a VPN service.

come on Austin , its not a public one

cant argue more than this, request you to delete the thread , or our legal team will reach out to the admin by today evening

If you cannot log in from a specific IP address, it might be possible that, when @JusticeinTexas deleted the “Rosemary” account, he might have also selected the option to also block the email and IP address associated with the account. As I said earlier, he may have not been fully aware of our ongoing investigation, so I can’t take the blame for that.
