On July 31, 2025, the Santa Rosa Police Department in California arrested 30-year-old Chinese national Zhishen Zheng for serving as a money mule for an Apple technical support scam, where
- The scammers will create fake virus popups to trick their victims, in this case a 74-year-old female, into thinking their iPad was infected with a virus.
- Once called, the scammers will pose as security agents to falsely claim their victims’ bank accounts were compromised before transferring the call to a co-worker fraudulently posing as an agent with the Federal Trade Commission.
- In order to “recover” their accounts, the victim will be asked to withdraw thousands of dollars from their account and hand it off to a designated courier, or money mule, who will pose as an undercover agent.
- The following day, the scammers will demand more money on the grounds that checking their bank account triggered “another compromise.”
Zheng is currently being held at the Sonoma County Jail with a $1 million bail on charges of
- Elder abuse
- Obtaining money by false pretenses
- Grand theft

My grandparents were immigrants who came to the US legally. They came to Ellis Island where they had to have a complete medical exam and demonstrate they had marketable skills to contribute. They also needed to have a sponsor who agreed to pay for the immigrant in tough times. No free ride from the taxpayers.
We’ve regressed, sadly.
The US House Budget Committee concluded that illegal immigration costs the US taxpayers 150.7 Billion dollars per year (even accounting for taxes paid by immigrants).
The Federation for American Immigration Reform has studies showing this cost, including adding on to our schools, building new schools, cost to healthcare, etc. costs US taxpayers North of $400 billion per year.

Mine were too and they said the same stuff when they immigrated too. And when a couple would do crimes they said all the same things. Arrest the people who do bad things. Make the rest work.
