The cliché windows popup. Nothing new. I don’t have a picture of the original popup, but It’s basically the same old “Your computer is at risk. Your credit card info is in danger, so we’re blocking your computer. Please call ____ to get help.” type of thing.
The number up there is the scam number, incase you didn’t realize that yet.
Oh, heads up: The guy at the phone currently is the worst human being on this planet. Have fun.
I tried to claim that I was from their IT department to try to remotely access their system. I got a few decent calls from that tagline, but they don’t seem to use TeamViewer, so I was unable to remotely access their machines, or recover any files. I then invented “scam tax”, and managed to frighten a scammer up to a point where they were willing to pay said “scam tax”, before telling them that they actually owed no money.
Long story short: These scammers seem fairly gullible, and you should be able to have a few good conversations with them. I also discovered that they use Go To Assist.
