Won't dial...

I’m new to BobRTC and when I try to call it says “connecting” for a second then immediately says “hung up” What am I doing wrong???

@Grampys_Magic#114852 So, there are multiple settings within your browser that could cause this type of behavior in BobRTC. Usually, it is simply because microphone access was not granted to that particular web site when it prompted for it, you do not have a microphone plugged-in/enabled or you are using an unsupported we browser. Only Chome, FireFox and Opera on recent versions of Windows, MacOS and Linux are supported, although some have had been able to use the service on Safari version 11 or later and the Chromium edition of MS Edge. Internet Explorer and regular MS Edge will not work regardless. There are additional problems (which I didn’t mention) that can produce this as well, but for now I think it’s best to start with the most simple/common.

i connected but had no sound of the scammer i could hear my own voice i am puzzled can you help please ?

my bobrtc account ?

@MaxGame#114937 Yes, your BobRTC account preferences accessible via the menu button in the top right, although I’m not sure that would assist. As hearing your own voice is something I’ve never heard of before, but try this: Within Windows sound settings (assuming you’re using Windows), under your default audio input device in the recording tab, make sure “Listen to this device” isn’t selected. That’s the only reason I can think of as to why you’d hear your own voice, as for not being able to hear the scammer… I would honestly try another web browser, if you’re using Chrome, try FireFox, if you’re using FireFox try Chrome etc.

The Preferences screen in BobRTC is where you go to direct your sound input and output devices (some browsers will only go to the default speakers whereas the Opera browser will let you select an output device).

If your microphone settings and permissions are not granted the Preferences screen will tell you at the top of the page that it cannot access the microphone. You also need to check the Microphone setting (further down the screen) to make sure it is pointed at your microphone.

@Grampys_Magic#114852 It could be scammers at the other end were simply hanging up every call that arrives.

@kaliban48#115074 That’s not likely. If he’s not able to connect to our phone servers, there’s no way the call could ever reach the scammer’s phone system. I hope that he resolved the issue though. This sounds like a microphone issue to me.

Iv been having trouble with BOBRTC all day.

Thanks for the advice i have tried Brave i get no sound except my own voice .Opera nothing worked i test microphone on discord using opera and all i got was a green bar no sound of my voice .I test microphone on discord app i hear my voice doing the test . i will try firefox i won"t use chrome .I am using stereo microphone stereo headset on windows 7 i am starting to believe i need USB headset rather than stereo microphone that i purchased .

@Norm_Harrison#114882 i’m using firefox and i’m able to call scammers and they pickup but i can’t hear the scammer so i go to preferences to configure my headset but for some reason in firefox only the options for microphone and speakers aren’t there. yes i did enable the microphone in firefox. the reason i’m not switching browsers is because both opera and chrome have the same hang up problem as @Grampys_Magic
