Windows Undetectable VM (Virtual Box)

Basically, I’ve made a Windows 10 vm in virtual box. So this scammer looked through my device manager and saw “VBox harddisk” under CD-ROM/DVD drives. That was kind of a dead giveaway so he called me dumb, more specifically he said “you stupid man, you very stupid man. You motherfucker” (he was very Indian) then he laughed and just hung up on me.

Trying to stop this from every happening again because I'm getting flashbacks. I went to this video by Jim Browning, but it was for vmware, and I couldn't find the same registry key that he did for changing the name of the cd-rom drive.

If anyone could tell me how to rename this specific part and maybe cover anything else up that might give the vm away as a vm, that would be awesome.

Hmm, I have the same problem, even with my vbox harddrive. No scammer spotted it yet, but its good to change it. I think this should work:

Rename Devices In Device Manager - AvoidErrors

edit: tried it, works perfectly :) Changing names of the hdd, cdrom, display adapter etc. In system devices there is also a Virtualbox device!

… and that I cant change. Im also unable to change the display adapter name/

here is a good video step by step but its also for vmware i use to use virtual box but i rather use vmware has more stuff and options https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFp_-nsSZeQ

That doesnt seem to work on my virtualbox vm. device manager and dxdiag still show virtualbox in several places, like the videocard adapter. Changing the reg keys doesnt seem to make a difference.

scambait.club has a fake dxdiag and fake msinfo32. But for the device manager video adapter, Im yet to find a solution.
