Yup. Insisting they are for real. Damn, they tried this on me in 1997 on DIAL UP!

WTF.. in 97 ?, i wasn’t even born at that time. computers are not popular at that time.

What? Computers were very popular. I had one at my house and used them at work. We were using Windows 97 at the time which was a step up from the original WIndows. Internet was dial up. They were doing the same crapola back then. Honey, I was using computers in the 1980’s. At work, I actually used DOS at first where all you had was a C prompt and you had to write all your own batch files.

Apologies, i forgot to mention, I’m not in US. I’m in in Aus. and my childhood was in IND, computers weren’t popular there up until 2005. till 2010s, it was slow, only few had in their home.

but after 2015, IND had a massive improvement in telecom which also increased the growth of computers in home. internet had became extremely cheap. now, for 10 to 15 $, you’ll get 100 Mbps broadband with unlimited data. These scammers basically exploiting it.

Yep, good old DOS! I’m dating myself but who care hey @JusticeinTexas

No problem.

Kids today have no idea what DOS is. Waiting for the computer to warm up and then all you have on the screen is a orange or green C: and then you had to know all the sign-ins for every program on there. I wrote batch files sto make menus so I did not have to teach all my dispatchers everything in my head. I ran IT for our police departement before most people knew what IT was! I kept all the police records, traffic court, budget going using DOS. Now you just use an app. At home, I used dial up Internet access. Where I lived you paid by the damn minute! And that was if you even connected.

Same here M. We were taught Cobol (I so despised it) & Fortran in college and the main frame was the size of an entire floor. When I started at Perkin Elmer I had to write a batch file to track my projects status…something that Excel does so easily now. I once wrote a long file onto a 3.5” floppy, walked across the office and a static shock from the carpet wiped the entire disk. Learned real quick to make a copy before getting up, lmao.
