I love scambaiting, but sometimes a thought pops in my head “How far can I go with this until I have just committed a crime?” I’m not worried about it. Besides what is the scammer gonna say to the cops? “I was scamming this person, and they committed a crime” Yeah, so I’m not worried about it. I get that RATs are illegal, and anything that has to do with hacking, but when can a normal scambait become illegal?
If you don’t know the answer to this, you really shouldn’t be doing this.
i dont think it is your helping People that fall for these scams

When you call somebody to harass them, they’re in the same country as you, and they PRESS CHANGES and prosecute you.
In my opinion you will never be prosecuted for calls to India and Pakistan. They're out of US/Canadian jurisdiction.
RAT are illegal under any circumstances. Its considered cyber terrorism. I looked it up. Even if you are being a vigilante using such software can land you in some very hot water. Just use a good vpn and even run a vpn on your main pc and within the vm itself you should be fine. just cover your tracks and if you connect to a legit company inform them they have been a victim of number spoofing.
This would be near impossible, but somehow stealing money from a scammer
As long as it is a legitimate scam you ok to call as many times as you want because you’re helping others by not allowing the scam to happen to others.
If you live in a state where it’s illegal to prank call then just be careful about what you’re saying. One-off calls are fine as far as I know but play it safe and don’t do anything too out-of-the-ordinary.
