Everything I have learned and why you should read this…
I have been following this website for months. I believe this place is the Robinhood for scamming the scammer. The mission we all take here is critical; waste their time so they can't waste anyone else’s.
I have finally decided to make an account and do my first post. I was working while I got yet another fake call, this time offering back braces... I could only imagine all the elderly getting this call and willingly handing over their information. I acted like I was old and used some of the tactics below, I was able to get to the point where they were asking me for Medicare card information about 16 minutes in of stringing them along. The idea of them sitting in a call center scamming people pissed me off yet again so I hopped on, checked ADAROSS, handpicked a number, and got the audio at the end of the post.
Over time I have come up with multiple things to say as well as different tactics to waste as much of their time as possible. I am going to share some tips below, and you can also hear my most recent scam call (thank you ADAROSS for giving me fresh meat daily).
- use an app like burner/firertc/skype so you can create numbers that are untraceable, even if they trace it the number is the fake number used in the burner app
- in the middle of them trying to get connected to you act confused and state "is that you moving my mouse?", they will most likely act very confused as well, shredding another minute or two into the waste of time
- while on the phone with them put them on hold and say you’re getting another call, once back on state that you have another windows technician calling you saying you have errors coming from your pc, start acting confused and angered that you can’t understand why nobody can help you, the scammer will try to calm you down again, wasting time
- act stupid for a while, string them along, and then ask to speak to someone who actually knows what they are doing. once they transfer you to a "master technician/supervisor" state clearly and sound as sharp as possible that the person that was helping you previously was abysmal in providing help and you cannot understand how he is an employee etc.; i managed to get someone fired this way, heard them yelling back and forth over the phone in the background
- state that you have to restart your computer etc. and while doing this play startup sounds from really old versions of windows, then the aol dial up login sound and you’ve got mail, again wasting time and having them think your literally from the 90's
- after you’ve strung an idiot along (you can usually tell from their voice) you can put on whatever accent they have and state that your one of his buddies in the same call center playing a joke on him and to stand up (i have done this a couple of times and once i heard the guy actually put the phone down and stand up)
- tell them you can smell their breath through the phone (this seems to like hit them where it hurts) or that they have a stinky call center (they will think they do afterwards and probably try wasting their time cleaning things long after you've hung up)
