I have been working on a virus that when ran, will send certain files to a file server using ftp. I am wondering what files I should target. I only have a single gigabyte of storage so I cant just download their entire system.
Also, on a scale of 1 to 10, how stupid are scammers? Would they really download an exe off your computer and run it. I won’t say exactly what mine looks like because some scammers look at these, but basically it gives the scammer your username and password (cuz you type it in), and it says “try again later”. If I type it slow enough, they might write it down, and download the exe so they can login to your bank account later. (therefore releasing the virus).
But anyway, what file types should I target? Note that the more I download, the slower it might become. Also, I could take screenshots and send those over.
.xls and .txt
If scammers keep scratch notes or a calling list of victims it's usually an excel spreadsheet or a notepad. Oh, and whatever those "post it notes" on the screen are too. All the scam call centers love using those, and maybe some of the post-its are networked. Which reminds me, don't just have it seek their C: drive, look for network-mapped drive letters and shares too. I've seen plenty of that.
@jackburton#73008 Agree, for sure spreadsheets. So many scammers have details about the earnings, employee schedules, addressees, victim’s details and each scam transaction detail.
