So a while back, I mistyped gmail, and I typed “Gamail.com” which brought me of course, to a norton popup. So I refreshed, and I got a site asking me if I was a robot, and to click allow. (I didn’t, i know it just wanted me to recieve notifications about other scams.) I did this a lot, and it brought up a whole slew of scummy/spammy/scammy sites. I reported this to Google, and to my suprise, they actually got in touch with whatever scummy advertiser owned this domain, and made them sell this domain at least. No more Gamail.com!
Gamail.com now says
"This domain is GAmail.com
For GMAIL.COM click here
We do not spam
We have never spammed
For CHEAP ADS click here"
Google may have misinterpereted what I said, I had said that occasionally, this site redirected me to spammy sites, but I guess google saw it as, "these people are spammers" I am glad they took it down, as there were many popups, and I am sure if I wasnt on a chromebook when doing this, I could have gotten a slew more
I didn't really expect google to do anything, as every other phishing site I report, and every scam site I report, seems to be ignored, which is sorta understandable, but I wish they took a bigger priority, especially on these advertising sites.
