Just an idea to put out there for speculation: As you may remember, there are some law firms that love to send cease-and-desist letters to scambaiter websites, claiming scambaiters are engaging in “denial of service attacks” on legitimate businesses. If an alleged legitimate business gets charged in an American court of law for actual fraud, do you think the lawyer who wrote the cease-and-desist letter could be prosecuted under the RICO Statutes for being part of an ongoing criminal enterprise? I think it would be neat if it happened. If a future lawyer is thinking about taking on a case, typed the business name into Google, and saw hundreds of bad reviews where customers actually used the word “scam,” it might make the lawyer think twice about taking on such a client.
