Just got a Virtual Machine. Is it safe to do it without using a VPN?
Honestly I wasn’t 100% myself on this, but if you don’t want to use one just be a bit cautious. if yous ee them trying to go to an IP grabbing website, close your browser and end the session.
@Davuun#25602 they can google your ip while on your vm…use opera mini browser… free vpn
@nattyg09#25601 I personally use a VPN, but that’s probably because I attempt to actually get the memz virus on their computer. If you are just wasting their time, it isn’t that important because chances are that’s not what they are looking for. I would suggest it for protection, but it’s not the end of the world if you do it without one.
Honestly I wouldn’t risk it. Wrap your willy use a VPN.
@rockyshores#26353 How do you use a VPN on a VM while hiding it?
@isaidmeh#26354 Best to put it on your host
@AussieScamBuster#26356 Are there any free programs that will do that, or are they all premium?
@isaidmeh#26358 cyberghost is somewhat free but your better off getting a paid one i use ipvanish and have done for a while its stable and you get good download speeds ![]()
@isaidmeh#26358 Windscribe is free with 2gb data per month, or 10gb with a verified email, i used 10minutemail.com to verify email
@isaidmeh#26354 I would use a NAT connection and then run the VPN on your host computer. Make sure to check the ip in your VM to see if it worked. Just like the person above, I use ipvanish. Cyberghost is actually pretty decent, but it’ll never be as good as a paid VPN. If you use cyberghost, just make sure that you keep track of how long it’s been enabled, because it only lasts for a little while before you have to restart the connection.
@datbguy69#26392 THANKS!
@isaidmeh#26397 If you want to lower your chances of a scammer finding out that you are using a VM, I also suggest watching this video to set up the VM the best way.
https://youtu.be/4uuv3sY97sA
It also shows you how to disable Syskey so the scammer can’t try that.
@datbguy69#26406 I know, I have that all covered. However, I still can’t hide my processer in dxdiag being a VirtualBox one, but usually, they are too stupid to notice lol.
@isaidmeh#26429 Have to go into regedit to hide that. I got busted by a scammer, then I had to hide it with regedit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OjwtrVMO-w will show how i did it with VirtualBox
@AussieScamBuster#26499 Thanks man, you guys are super helpful!
