VMs

Is there a way to scam bait without a VM? Setting up a VM tends not to work for me. It might be because my PC is from 2011, but whenever I try to start a VM it always says that I don’t have some software and when I continue it just gets stuck on the Windows logo. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, but I think it’s that I don’t have some sort of software/hardware. Either way, is there a way to scam bait without using a VM? I don’t think I can use one.

@drin_ck#98837 Not sure either but a PC from 2011, it could be too low hardware configuration. I’d suggest 8GB RAM, 50GB free space HDD and an Intel i5 or AMD equivalent on your host machine. Which software does it say it requires? Could you give more details?

You could just pretend that you're turning on your computer and then you say it's stuck etc. Wasting their time like this maybe. But I'm afraid that the real scambaiting starts when they are connected to your computer.

Another thing you could do is switch to baiting SSA scammers. They don't require a PC at all.

@NeeP#98849 thanks for your response, my PC seems to live up to that but I think it’s my AMD graphics card. It’s an AMD Radeon 5700. The alert says

VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available on your system. Certain guests (e.g. OS/2 and QNX) require this feature and will fail to boot without it.

When I click Continue, it depends on the OS I'm trying to use. If I use Windows 10, there's a Windows logo. Nothing else happens after that. If I'm in Windows 8.1, then there'll be that same Windows logo, but after about a minute, in console font, it says Your PC needs to restart. Please hold down the power button. Error Code: 0x0000000A Parameters: 0xFFFFFFE6 0x0000001F 0x000000 0x81515DFB and after that, VirtualBox says "A critical error has occurred while running the virtual machine and the machine execution has been stopped." (it''s Guru Meditation)

In case it's important, I'm running Windows 8.1 for my actual PC.

@Markiemm#98858 How do I do that?

I considered this as well.

There is a product called “deepfreeze” which basically restores a pc back to the same restore point no matter what software you install.

IT costs money to have and haven't tested it but looks promising .

@drin_ck#98856 I think you are using Windows Home and not Windows Pro right? With Windows Home you are not able to create a VM :frowning: I have the same Problem.

@Markiemm#98863

Tried this, when I press F2 nothing happens.

@YXproductions#98865

Nah, I've got Windows 8.1 Pro

Are you importing a complete machine that you found out there? Like the Microsoft Developer virtual machines, or did you create a machine from scratch and then install Windows?

If you are importing someone elses VM then there may be invalid settings and you should try making a bare bones machine and then installing windows as if it were a real machine. You could also go into the advanced setting of the machine you are importing and change things like the acceleration settings, CPUs, ram, etc. and try again.

Let us know if you are installing an OS on a machine you created, or if you are trying to import a completed machine (and where you go it if that's the case.)

Guys, I fixed it, I just had to enable hardware virtualization. Sorry about that
