I said that the first call. When I decided to call back is when I was actually talking to him in Hindi. He said that I was going to get a 50% discount on my utility bill, and that I needed to confirm my personal information. He also said something about it being a “Company promotion.”

He is Pakistani from Lahore, targeting Americans of Indian origin.

They do pay but with stolen cards and they want 50% in gift cards. later the utliity company asks you for unpaid bill.

Canada currently has 53 area codes.
Originally when nationwide long distance dialing was introduced in 1947, it had just 9 area codes, not all of Canada was covered.
Newfoundland, Labrador, and the Northwest, Yukon, and Nunavut territories were not included
In the US, area codes don’t cross state boundaries.
In Canada, 3 area codes cross province boundaries: 782, 867 and 902
The most recently added area code was 879 in 2024, as an overlay to 709.
