Gomenasai.
I’ve been an avid watcher of people like Jim Browning, Kitboga, ScammerPayback, SkeletonSysKey, etc since roughly 2018.
I would have videos and VODs playing in the background while working, doing chores, whatever. I’ve always been fascinated by how complex and technical the art of scambaiting is, and it goes from trolling some annoying people to justified vigilante activity when you see how much real-world damage they cause people. Pensioners, the disabled, and the technically ignorant are all potential victims for these guys.
As the title of this thread suggests, there are literal bona fide scam ads on YouTube. As in, people who PAY GOOGLE to show their ads which link people to fake websites, where you fill out a fake survey, and are given a VOIP number to call so you can get free money.
This has been going on for years, and my response has been the same. Flag for review and get them banned. The advertiser identities are also “Verified by Google” (which used to not be the case).
Attached to this post are screenshots of an ad I saw. I’ve already reported the ad, but it’ll come back up with a new name that’ll be verified by Google.
These scams in particular are revolting. They bill themselves as being ‘Pro American’ and even invoking Trump ‘the right man back in office’, to claiming that Congress approved a bunch of subsidies and that anyone in a specific income bracket can apply and get a ‘Spending Card’ or ‘Allowance Card’.
These ads prey on ignorant and desperate people, and the gentlemen shown in the image has been in various ads. In earlier ones, he filmed himself walking out of a bank/financial institution (Chase, WesternUnion, Capital One, etc) to shilling the aforementioned ‘Spending Card’.
I’m posting about it here because I don’t see anyone talking about it, and if anyone finds ads like this to please document and take action.
