On September 22, 2025, police in Jhajjar, Haryana, India raided an illegal call center operating out of a Bahadurgarh apartment for facilitating technical support scams against American nationals under the false personation of antivirus software providers, Netflix and Amazon. 18 were arrested:
- Naifi Arslan from Delhi
- Fahad Khan from Delhi
- Raju Kanwal from Delhi
- Mayank/Aric from Delhi
- Pulkit Sharma from Delhi
- Pankaj Chawla from Delhi
- Rahul Chawla from Delhi
- Asutosh from Delhi
- Sunny from Delhi
- Abhiney Raj from Uttar Pradesh
- Mohammad Zoheb from Uttar Pradesh
- Samar Khan from Uttar Pradesh
- Raman from Uttar Pradesh
- Gaurav Kumar from Uttarakhand
- Daman Chandra from Punjab
- Rajeev Sonkar from Punjab
- Chetan Singh from Rajasthan
- Dhruv Mongre from Haryana
Around that time, police in Phagwara, Punjab raided an illegal call center that facilitated tech support scams out of a rented hall in a hotel, with nightly shifts coinciding with American and Canadian business hours. Their scam includes using remote access software and laundering funds through gift cards and cryptocurrency.
38 individuals were arrested, including:
- Sajan, who oversaw and managed daily operations
- Jaspreet Singh, a Delhi resident who trained recruits in how to scam
- Varun, who handled technical systems
- Rohan, who oversaw operations.
Police are also looking to track other members of this syndicate, including their alleged mastermind Amrinder “Sabhi Tohri” Singh, who leased the premises and has close links to associates in Delhi and Kolkata, and possibly even Dubai.
