844-890-2137 is listed under IRS/SSA scams on BobRTC. Under notes, Sandbar subsequently commented that it answers “… you have reached the real estate sale department…”. I tried calling today, Saturday, and got the same “Real Estate Sales Department” prompt. Press 1 to speak to a real estate sales associate, Press 2 to request service or to check the status of an existing sales request.
I tried Option 1, and got a salesperson for American Home Shield. I happen to be familiar with AHS, since I actually have an active policy with this home warranty company for a rental property. So I said bye, and called again, and this time chose Option 2. After a long hold, I reached a service rep, and I asked her if the claim I filed and withdrew earlier this month has actually been recorded as closed. She asked for my contract number, and was able to tell me stuff about the claim that I didn't mention to her at all. So, it is a legitimate American Home Shield number.
Does this particular scammer forwards his calls to a legit business during his days off to throw us off his trail? Anyone else with the same experience? I, for sure, would try calling this number again during regular scammer business hours/days.
