The National Residential Improvement Association, SCAMMERS caught by the NY Office for the Aging

The scammers sent a fraudulent business reply postcard in my mailbox earlier today, claiming that we may qualify for home repair grant programs. The letter was specifically sent to us from 125 Herman Melville Ave, Newport News, Virginia, 23606, though we were asked to return it to a Dunmore, Pennsylvania PO box.

The contract referral company has a 1-star review on the Better Business Bureau, given that the company is actively engaging in fraudulent activity by

  • Telling customers who signed up for “free” grants that the customers will have to pay for all labor and mateiral costs through a monthly payment with high interest rates.
  • Falsely advertising their services to Upstate New York residents despite the fact that they don’t operate within the state of New York.

The company has been labelled as a scam by the New York State Office of Aging, based on earlier reports from the Montgomery County Office for the Aging and the fact that the company has been reported to the BBB since 2008.

UPDATE: Angrisano reached out to me over Discord and confirmed that he was unaware about hosting the scammers’ website nor has any clear intentions of defrauding innocent customers. He’s gonna work on giving me as much information as he can about the customers in question and may even block or remove the website.

MAJOR UPDATE: Angrisano has informed me that the company has migrated to a CloudFlare-protected server, prompting him to close their account. He is unable to provide me information about the scammers due to privacy concerns.

Been dealing with these fools for a week now. I poked around the Professional answering service side of things just to see if they might be involved & came to the conclusion that they were just being used as well. I asked the new owner if they noticed anything odd about the NRIA & was told that the answering service has multiple clients that were pre-screened by the old owner. I told them that they may want to do their own screening under new ownership. I also got new owner to agree to look at the NRIA and drop them as a client if everything I told them checks out.

If you think I’m mistaken about Professional Answering Service not knowing that one of their clients is a scammer, then please post.

As far as the NRIA themselves…Thank you for posting this gold mine. Been trying to get my home repairs set up through them for a week now.

That Dumnore, PA address is the answering service so I doubt the postcards are being sent from there. According to the new owner they have nothing to do with the mailers. Of course she could be lying but I will follow up with them soon enough. I’m guessing our good buddy Joe is just pretending to cooperate while pointing the finger at the answering service along with the marketing agency right?

I’ve been calling these lying fucks all day since according to the BBB & the state they are scammers. Just another tidbit of info: I dialed (888) 822-9985 & a man that I never talked to before picked up & mumbled the name of some insurance company. I knew he was lying of course because just a few days before, that number was still answering as homeowner funding with the NRIA. I asked him why that was & he said he didn’t know & that he was just an insurance company operating out of Canada. He said he didn’t even know what the NRIA was so I told him. He didn’t like the answer I gave him. He also didn’t like when I told him a lot of people think they can hide out from the law in Canada, but are usually sadly mistaken. Then he hung up. When I called that number back later that evening after business hours, I got the usual NRIA after hours phone message confirming that the man was full of shit. I wouldn’t trust either one of these companies until we know more. In the meantime lets be as cordial as we can be with the appropriate people until we have some answers. When I say that I’m referring to the owners of these companies. as far as these numbers are concerned:

  • (855) 979-1381 (Five 9, answers as “Homeowner Funding”)
  • (800) 241-5805 (Five 9, answers as “Homeowner Funding”)
  • (800) 792-8259 (Five 9, answers as “Homeowner Funding”)
  • (800) 575-1042 (Five 9, answers as “Homeowner Funding”)
  • (888) 822-9985 (Five 9, answers as “Homeowner Funding”)
  • (800) 382-9407 (Five 9, answers as “Homeowner Funding”)
  • (877) 591-2672 (Inteliquent)
  • (888) 714-8742 (Cox Communications)

I would still go ape shit on them until you get bored. That’s the least we can do until we hear otherwise by the Office of the aging, BBB or the state about updates with this so called business.

Hi Frank, this is Joe from DigiSquid. I can assure you I have nothing to do with the postcard mailers or the answering service and no longer have any affiliation with this client. I was previously hosting their site, but they’ve relocated to another hosting facility and I’ve had no contact with them since.

This company operates under entities other than the ones listed in this thread.
They have multiple phone numbers which are all active and have the same voice and menu
The are are also plenty of inactive listed numbers they have dumped in their wake which are now leadgens and $100 retail rebate vouchers
Every address they list is fake, they indicate mailing centers and even a nice looking church as their main office location.
They have a Facebook page which leads to other companies and numbers
Linkedin profile and contact numbers for the director of this operation, which lists he is the director of another company with more active numbers for them.

When this site has picture links and sound files showing again I’ll list the whole rather large file I have.
The whole things is a total scam throughout a big long trail of destruction for a lot of victims
