OK, there is one particular insurance outfit that is using a huge amount of DID numbers for placing outbounds.
You'll recognize this scam if you're called but then asked to Press 1 to speak to a healthcare enrollment specialist or 2 for DNC (their DNC option just does an immediate hangup, pressing this option does nothing).
You can confirm the scam by PRESSING 1 and then when the agent cuts in she'll ask you if you're interested in a individual or family plan and then starts asking you questions on her lead sheet.
I watched one of these bad boys come in to my Asterisk server. TrueCNAM didn't flag it and neither did Jolly Roger since it's a new DID. This scammer definitely has a telecom expert running their shop. When dialing back I watched my PBX logs and noticed that my call actually did reach their PBX at the other end, they picked up the ring and then immediately played an error message out of their PBX.
That means they're not spoofing DIDs like other scammers do, they own the numbers.
So I thought it would be interesting to keep a log of where these healthcare scammers are using for DIDs. If you have any INBOUND numbers from hijacking them please post them (scambait them and then interrupt by saying you need to run outside real quick to get your child/whatever, ask for a callback number).
Since they're pretty good at not giving their inbound DIDs out this one is a tougher nut to crack. Their dialer hits me 2x a day religiously and I always press 1 to scambait. :-)
Here's my log: ============================================
outbound = you can't call this number, it's not routing to their agent
inbound = this number is open and taking calls
