Pretty sure we all heard the news that the Frickin FCC is slamming Telnyx (one of the most notorious “verified” scam callers provider) for illegal robocalls because the FCC staffs and their family members were getting bombarded by the “FCC Fraud Department” (lol) scam calls. Today Telnyx actually said that it is a mistake, said that they took down the numbers asap, and also claimed their KYC process was fairly done. Turns out that was a lie because the culprit of the calls used two fake names, a shoddy domain: mariocop123 (LMAO), they used a canadian hotel as its adress, their IP addresses were linked to UK/Scottland (most likely VPN), and finally they paid with B I T C O I N.
Legitimate business here everyone.
Let’s hope that Ring Central is next to be in the FCC cross hairs. I report scam numbers to them (as do others here) and days later, the numbers are still active.
Yes, I was absolutely delighted to read about the FCC holding this despicable scum accountable! They need to start holding all these shitty VOIP carriers responsible, since they generate billions of dollars off their scamming foreign clientele. I have had hundreds of calls from Indian, Pakistani and Filipino scamming clients of Telnyx harassing me almost daily before. They varied from SSA scams to Medicare impostors to car warranty degenerates. Telnyx ALWAYS claimed that the calls were “spoofed”. How were they spoofed when many of these criminals answered as “Medicare” or “SSA”?
Other little shit that comes to mind is NUSO, Commio and “Freaktel” Fractel run by Mikey “Clown” Crown.
And then there are the big nasty beasts like Peerless Network, ONVOY and Ring Central, which I call “Scam Central”. Peerless is run by all Eastern Europeans from the Balkans (former Communist Yugoslavia), whereas Ring Central is run by the Jewish men from the former USSR. Infamous regions for scams, as we all know… By the way, Onvoy’s current CEO appears to be a Filipina. Hmmm… I don’t think they will be holding their Filipino scamming customers accountable any time soon.
@Tillianne @Jhawk @CatMan @SouthernCulture_x @MajorLeeAwesome @JusticeinTexas - I am pretty sure that all of you had rather bad experiences with all of the aforementioned carriers. Our nation must make it harder for all the hostile foreigners to have access to our network and must start protecting our people from them. After all, WHY are there Serbians, Ukrainians, Russians, Filipinos, Indians, Pakis and othet aliens operating most of our VOIP telecom networks? Why are they even allowed to be here or operate their shady networks from thousands of miles away???
I fully agree with sentiment on VOIP providers should not have any legal nor power to sell inland numbers to outsiders! I would not be surprised if all those other Scam Voipers did the exact same amount of due diligence to their KYC as Telnyx did. They claim spoofed numbers but that is inexcusable because the VOIPs themselves verify and let their numbers pass the STIR/SHAKEN attestation tests to avoid carrier blocks. What is even more sickening is that the CEO of Telnyx actually doubled down and had a little squabble with someone who called out their shady practices on LINKEDIN. Going as far as saying they blocked legitimate costumer for lack of information when signing up. AND YET ALLOWED THIS TO HAPPEN
He can whine all he wants, but as far i can see, i see a child throwing a tantrum after getting caught. This type of behavior should push ANYONE to start questioning the legitimacy of many VOIP providers.
This is a great perspective! And very good information. By the way, welcome to the forum!
I wonder if this will fix the Telnyx fraud department
Here is another great article about it:
Notice how it references obvious ongoing issues with Fractel and Onvoy/Sinch. I’m glad that I’m not the only one seeing the apparent trend here.
