“Welcome to Microsoft, this side Jason. how can I help you?”

Scammer will ask for your ZIP code, then claim your IP address wasn’t private and that someone tried to hack your devices with “trojan spyware virus” over the past 48 hours. As this hacker supposedly knows my entire personal information, the scammer had to consult the “backend department” about what steps need to be taken.

The scammer will then attempt a “scan” of your network, then claim there are 5 different people accessing your network from Dallas, Texas, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania & Nashville, Tennessee. After a second “scan,” they claimed your phone network was compromised and that every conversation you had over the phone was listened to, then attempt to make another call from the “1-800 number of Microsoft” to ask simple yes or no questions:

  • Do you use any device in your home to access social media?
  • Do you use any device in your home for online shopping?
  • Do you use your home Internet for paying bills?
  • Do you use your home Internet for playing online games?
  • Do you use Netflix or Hulu?

They will then tell you to turn off and reset your computer.
