HIGHLIGHTS FROM VIRTUAL MACHINE BAIT:

  • The scammer will claim an “attempt of hacking” took place within the past 48 hours, prompting you to provide your name and ZIP Code before they consult with the “anti-hacking team.” who will then prompt you to run UltraViewer. While the program installs, they will ask if you do online banking and if you are calling from your cell phone.
  • Once the scammer remotely connects to your computer, they will have you run a “final scan process” with the “dir/s” command through the Command Prompt. The scammer hung up on me midway through the “final scan process,” so I called them back but they too hung up on me.
  • Wile the “scan” was still running, the scammer reconnected to my Virtual Machine and ran the hacker typer simulator. I got them back by playing the Bhenchod Song.
