A scam incident was recently reported in our neighborhood involving an elderly resident who received a call from phone number 7205880919. The caller claimed to represent Microsoft technical support.
The caller alleged that the resident’s computer had serious security issues and used technical language to create urgency. The victim was guided over the phone and ultimately persuaded to withdraw funds and obtain a cashier’s cheque as part of a supposed “security or protection process.”
The cheque, amounting to approximately $12,000, was reportedly made payable to a name provided by the caller (“Shirley L Bosco”) and sent to an address in Arizona, USA. After the cheque was sent, the caller became unreachable.
The caller also identified himself using the name “Ronald Morris,”
