today my grandfather recived another cold call from “Microsoft technical division.” They were nice enough to tell him that his computer’s security system is no longer activated. phone number is 833-217-3824. works on Fire RTC

When they pick up be sure to say they called about your network and not your actual computer. They seem to be a bit particular about it. They don’t tell you much of anything and try to remote into your computer as fast as possible.
@Starwin#12621 i said i called about my network and they hung up right away deadass
@tugglestv#12622 They must be getting a lot of prank calls then. This is good, as they might start deeming potential victims as spam calls as well and just hang up on them.
LOL they gave me access to their computer but were too quick for me to syskey
afterwards he stayed online and talked to me about what its like to be a scammer
he accepted that that’s what they do but said the he thinks that they also help people by optimising their computers (I of course didn’t buy it). Earlier in the call I started crying saying “how can these people take advantage of someone like me…” I asked him afterwards how he felt during that and he was very silent.
He’ll no doubt be back tomorrow but I think that make him think.
This is hilarious, they have no caller id security. it just goes through. I’ve now had 5 people.
@Daeld#12625 at least he admitted to it.
I just had a great interview with one of them. He sounded like he was trying to hide what he was saying from his supervisor at times.
Not sure how much is true, but says that each "agent" will make around $2000 for the company per day and that his supervisor has 58 agents under him. Overall they have about 500 agents doing different scams. Supervisors earn around $78,000 per month (which sounds like BS) and they work them hard 7 days. He wouldn't tell me how much he earned per week/month himself and stopped once I asked him how he felt about the people he scammed.
Said the owner of the business was based in the US but they are based in India.
A semi-honest scammer? Maybe, probably I just got false info, but he seemed to be shy and honest at least at first.
Are you sure it isn’t 78,000 rupees?
LOL, exactly! I actually asked him that, which is why I suspect he was back to scammer mode when answering that one.
I called a different company later and got to talk to the supervisor. He only answered a couple of questions but it seems that their calls are monitored/recorded (as expected) but they get into trouble if they give away real info to scambaiters, so take everything with an extra pinch of salt.
