First post. (Thanks for an awesome resource!)
Just had an interesting exchange with "Sean" from the 8455 number above.
He gave the usual spiel about computer probably got infected with malware/viruses etc and walked me through giving him access to my machine.
Just as he connected I had to go as someone arrived here to see me.
I told him this and he said to leave him to it and he would diagnose the issue.
I was curious to see what he would do so I left him in control of my (virtual) machine.
I watched to see what he did.
He checked the system profile and browser history and I think there were enough clues in there to alert him to it being a VM.
I imagined that would be the last I would hear from him but he called me back and went into a whole thing about how there was nothing major wrong with the machine - just needed a little cleaning up and some virus protection installed which he recommended I purchase from a third party supplier or high street store.
Said that it was not his intention to charge for any services at all and how I must never agree to pay anyone for unsolicited IT services over the phone and especially not in the form of Google Play or Itunes cards etc.
It was like having worked out that I was baiting him, he went the extra mile to appear legit.
I thought it was quite impressive!
Be interested to hear if anyone else had experience like that with this number.
