I appreciate the info drwat.

These guys recently managed to get onto a computer for all of xx minutes before I became aware and put an end to it. The tech there was impersonating another larger company's technician.

The only bit that I saw the "technician" do was disabling some chrome extensions, installing Ublock Origin and running sfc/scannow which i found it a little puzzling.

I'm writing to ask if you know anything more about the nature of their scam.
Of course for now we will assume the worst case scenario, that every bit of info is compromised etc, but If you know specifically what to look out for that would be a big help.

I've got a lot more details I wont post publicly lmk how to get in touch if you're curious.
Thanks for what you're doing here too.

I called them and pressed 2 for a tech. “Hey, so, my SSH client crashed on my Solaris machine and told me to call this number to get the hackers out. Here I’ll conference you in with my friend Dolan who can explain.” I then transferred him to a conference call with my friend who we’re calling Dolan, and he promptly hung up in confusion.

@sudophreak#113159 that’s not their location + the information above about Parametrique is just their ISP. It’s not the call center itself.

@NeeP#113161 how can u tell the diffrence when i get a ip from wireshark anytime i get one thats from india i assume its there location. ill take down that information i had no idea how would i know when i get a IP from wireshark what one is there isp and what one is there location if im able to even get there right IP

@sudophreak#113209 you got the right IP address however it sometimes doesn’t display their real company name. I use the website https://www.iplocation.net/ to check the IP. Ignore the Latitude and Longitude, they are crap.

Now it says thee ISP and Organization. There you can see which is the ISP and which is the call center name (often atleast). Sometimes it’s happening that they confused the spots and the ISP is listed as Organization aswell. That’s why I always google the company / check their website to see if it’s an ISP. Initially I also thought that Parametrique is the scam company but then I checked their website and they offer Fiber to your home so they’re ISP.
