GUARDIAN TAX (GUARDIANTAX.COM, GUARDIAN TAX NETWORK INC.) POTENTIAL FRAUD ALERT Heads up, I just got a shady voicemail from someone named “Alexis” claiming to be from the Tax Hardship Center (a legitimate company I’ve previously worked with). She said she “reviewed my file” and could “help with my tax issues,” telling me to call back at this number, 657-366-2701.
When I called, it was not the Tax Hardship Center at all—it was some other company called Guardian Tax located at 38 Executive Park Cir. Suite 315, Irvine, CA. 92614 posing as a different company. I did a little investigative work because I read previous reviews about this same occurrence and here’s what I found.
The Power of Attorney representative that Guardian Tax had on the paperwork was Sabrina Marinez. I found her on the Guardian Tax employee directory Guardian Tax: Employee Directory | ZoomInfo.com
It also looks like she’s been involved in some previous lawsuits I found on Google Dobronski v. Guardian Tax Network Inc., 4:23-cv-10119 – CourtListener.com
There are a few companies listed on this site so my thoughts are that this potentially illegitimate tax firm is operating under different DBA’s?

The real Tax Hardship Center is based in Westlake Village, CA, and they’ve never called me from that number.
This feels like a bait-and-switch—super misleading.
Always double-check before calling back. This seems like a scamming tactic and scammers love to fake legitimacy by name-dropping real businesses.

There is an update to this scam. I uncovered that Guardian Tax and Tax Relief Group are the same company and they are using new numbers. I can confirm this because they recognized my decoy number and used my dummy names.
