SSA Scammers now matching DOB and SS#

Hello,

Calling many SSA scammers off of Bobrtc. As usual they aske your date of birth and social to verify and any made up combo could get them going into script. As of today , many are stating that my made up SS number and DOB do not match.

I currently notate my caller ID area code for the State then use real first 3 numbers of whatever state is says I am calling from. First 3 numbers of SS number in the US relate directly to where you were born or where you applied for your SS number.

Do these scammers now have actual SS numbers and DOB for real people.

Im confused

I noticed the same…they seem to be able to correlate some part of you SS# with your place of birth, name, and age. But seems to me that if they had that kind of full detail the scammers would be able to respond with more detailed, custom responses. Any insights out there?

We’re under the suspicion that one of the largest SSA scammers got their hands on Equifax data and they’re doing lookups. I’ve used slight variations on my real identity to see how close I could get (like using the first 6 actual digits and the real DOB), and they rejected that.

Without giving real information to them, they appear to be using stolen identity data to do matches.

One strategy to deal with this is to waste their time is to call about OTHER Social Security problems and ignore their demands for name and DOB.

For instance:

  • -

Call about collecting a death benefit for your (fake) spouse. Tell them you dialed it because you got a voicemail claiming its Social Security. Tell them you were just in the office a month ago and did the paperwork but the $400 death benefit check has still not arrived and ask what they did with it.

  • -

Tell them you are a trans person and you've completed your state name change and have had sex reassignment surgeries and just changed your name and SSN. So why are you calling about my dead name and former SSN?

  • With a bhenchod Indian scammer it's always best to just ignore the sound coming from their end of the line and talk over them. If you need assistance doing that just write a script and read from it without stopping and put the earpiece away a bit and just listen for the hangup.

Then dial back and re-read the same script.

Yes you have to do more talking than before (with the old method you just said "yeah huh" a bunch of times while they read the Toyota Corolla story, but you're annoying the fuck out of them just the same and as long as the Indian is sitting there with you they are not productive.

@kenzo#101050 In some of my scambaits, When they say my fake SSN is bad I will tell them “My SSN card is in my wallet, let me go get it.”. Then I will read the same number and tell them it is read right off the blue SSN card. Sometimes this works. Another thing I do if they say my SSN card is bad, I’ll re-read it, however, I’ll change a digit to eleventy-seven. This gets them confused as they try to understand what eleventy-seven is.

There are some of these SSA scammers that seem to have a good database of peoples SSN numbers. I am just surprised and upset that Equifax has let out this information. I am even more upset when I look at Equifax's web site and they say they will charge me to monitor my credit. So they carelessly release peoples credit information and then they charge people to monitor their credit. This in itself sounds like a scam.

Something i use which works sometimes but u have to know what state it says your calling from is

ssn-verify.com it generates ssn codes and works some times

@Nickthebaiter#101046 Usually with these SSA sammers I am able to completely make up a SS number and DOB to get them to begin their script. I have now encountered them telling me that my SS and DOB do not match.

So I assumed that they were just notating my caller ID area code in the US and if the first 3 of the SS number I gave them did not match the state I was calling from they would just not continue.

If you read my prior post again, in the US the first 3 numbers of your SS match the state your were born in or where you first applied for your SS number. I googled SS prefix by State and then tried that angle with the scammers and was still declined to proceed with the call.

    How that helps your confusion.

Bottom line - They are getting more informed. We need to step up our game too…
