Like what exactly do they try and pull?
Hey, any info on what the scam actually is?
In a nutshell, they try to convince you that your SSN has been stolen, and they need to shut down all bank accounts associated with it. The only way to “safeguard” your money is to transfer it all to gift cards, which you’ll then be told to “register” with them (meaning, give them the numbers and PINs so they can steal them).
Sometimes, when they think they can get more money, you’ll be instructed to either do a bank wire or mail the cash to a mule address.
