SSA Scam - 474-3215

Active scammers. Happy hunting!

@MQ9#141811 Femscammer asked for full SSN right off the bat… wouldn’t take last 4 digits.

@Otis#141815 Make up one and use https://www.ssn-verify.com/ to tell them when and where it was issued

@Otis#141815 SSN-check.org/generate.

There is no zip code ?

@FattyMatty#141826 @vadim#141825 I do use ssn-verify to generate my SSN’s, but I refuse to give the SOB’s a full SSN on principal alone. The SSA themselves say that they would never ask for the full SSN, and if the scammers keep losing victims because they do ask for the full number, then maybe they will change course and just ask for the last 4. That would not only make it easier for us baiters, but also helps protect the real victims that may get sucked into their vortex. When they do ask for the full #, I give them hell and usually wind up saying something like “Well, I suspected you were a SCAM, but now I know you are - the REAL SSA would NEVER ask for my full SSN and they say so right on their web site”.

Oh, and on multiple occasions given them a valid SSN generated from the above site only to have the scammer tell me that is the wrong SSN and hang up on me. I believe some have valid SSN data obtained from the various data breaches that have gone down the last several years, and are using that to verify.

Just talked to them for 35 minutes. They are from Pakistan and want you to withdraw all your money to buy some kind of gift cards.

@Otis#141831 Clever boi :slight_smile:

Well, I guess we have some gender bias going on with the scammers - when I called as grandma, I spoke with a Mr. John Morris and he never even asked me my SSN!

Well, he never really got into the script either. When he started in on the suspicious activity stuff, Mrs. Dora instantly insisted they had the wrong information and it couldn't possibly be her. He kept trying to read the 'charges' and Mrs. Dora told him, "No, I'm sorry - you have the wrong person and the wrong information - you need to fix that immediately". Son of a gun, he said "Oh, I'm sorry - it must be a mistake on our end and I apologize. I will make sure it gets corrected. Thank you so much and have a nice day". Then he hung up.

Go figure - I guess my granny voice is just too much for them ;)

@Otis#141837 Ok, weird, not sure if they are filtering a bit more than usual, but I spoke with them in a really bored voice, and the second officer just said the government will verify my funds tomorrow, have a nice day.
