i don’t know how this scam works, but i got called in textnow by 3 numbers, empty voicemails, called them, telling me “they are from highland care”, called a number previously about some care
Highland Healthcare is a known scam. I read about them on BobRTC and other forums. Often, they are “providing health insurance” without any coverage. Also, they target elderly Americans with “supplemental Medicare coverage” that doesn’t cover anything and will bill Medicare high-dollar charges for some nonexistent or unnecessary services, such as “genetic screening” and braces. I have been bothered by them too, even though I’m way too young to be on Medicare. They don’t give a damn about DNC or Federal privacy laws. They are obnoxious US-based scammers that are part of benefits advisors scam and Medicare Rewards scam.
Can I post a working number? I missed a call today, so I returned their call and it was “Highland Healthcare”, first an operator answered and they patched me through an American sounding agent. I asked what benefits they offer and they were looking through my my area to find ‘qualified providers’. Can I post their number? I am unfamiliar with scams OTHER than the regular IT based or SSA ones.
Yes, I think it’s fine if you post it. Reputable businesses do not call thousands of people on Do Not Call FCC List. And they are scammers who are bothering normal people. “Highland” is a scam insurance.
OK, I got the call from (928) 222-2104.
So my guess is that they get around the donotcall by initiating the call from the Philippines, you speak with a philipino person who then transfers you to the American who can ‘help’ you. I have spoken to 3 different ‘agents’ who say they work “with Medicare” to maximize my coverage. They asked for my zip code and my Medicare ID, I asked for a website to learn more and they gave me https://highlandhealthcare.com/
This site has no useful info and the contact number on this site just puts you to a hold music forever. Very sketchy and the ‘agents’ are super ambiguous with any answer they give to your questions.
Sol, I read about those scams extensively. What they’re usually doing is phishing for old people’s SSNs and DOBs and other protected info to open fraudulent accounts. They also impose fraudulent charges on Medicare using this info.
Basically Medicare fraud? That is vile. I tweeted to the medicare account and posted the website there. Disgusting people!
Thanks for the info, this really threw me off because the ‘agents’ are stateside, I guess it goes to show to never assume.
Thanks again @scamterminator2021
Sol, you are welcome! Not only are they usually defrauding Medicare. Many of them are phishing for personal protected info and HIPAA info to then blackmail their victims, re-sell it on the Dark Web for profit and/or to obtain loans and open banking accounts or initiate illegal wire transfers under senior citizens’ names. They are absolutely evil. I have been fighting these scumbags for well over a year myself!
Wow, that is awful.
These people have no shame, their tentacles run deep I guess. Truly sad, I wish there was something that could be done. ![]()
It could be easily solved by: 1. Holding VOIP providers, such as Onvoy and Peerless Network and few others assisting scammers accountable and charging their leadership with felonies. For example, over 66% of known scams come from Onvoy. 2. Imposing sanctions on India, Philippines and Pakistan that disregard blatant violations of human rights and international laws by enabling scammers. 3. Making it impossible to “spoof” numbers from a technical standpoint or banning all VOIP calls in the US. Some affluent Gulf nations have done it and are successful. That stopped Indian scammers right away there, as they have no way to bother and harass people w/o VOIP BS.
