Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to formally demand that Lumen Technologies, Inc. take immediate and decisive action to address and resolve the fraudulent and illegal activities being conducted via the telephone number 208-806-4706, which has been linked to fraudulent attempts to impersonate the Social Security Administration (SSA). This phone number is being used to make false and misleading claims regarding suspicious activity associated with my Social Security Number (SSN), including the allegation of a $350.99 illegal gun purchase on the dark web.
Specifically, I received a communication stating:
“Social Security Administration. Suspicious activity detected with your SSN, including a $350.99 illegal gun purchase on the dark web. Contact us at +1 208-806-4706 immediately to resolve this before further action.”
This message is a clear and deliberate attempt to impersonate a federal agency and deceive individuals, in violation of both federal and state laws. These actions are not only unethical, but they are also unlawful under several statutes, including but not limited to the following:
- 18 U.S.C. § 1028 (Identity Theft and Fraud) – Under this statute, it is illegal to knowingly use or possess any means of identification of another person, including Social Security numbers, to commit fraud. The actions being conducted using this phone number clearly violate this provision.
- 18 U.S.C. § 912 (Impersonation of a Federal Officer or Employee) – It is a criminal offense to impersonate an officer or employee of the United States. The use of the SSA’s name and the false claim that suspicious activity has been detected on my SSN is an unlawful impersonation of a federal authority.
- 18 U.S.C. § 1343 (Wire Fraud) – The use of telecommunications to fraudulently solicit personal information, including Social Security Numbers, with the intent to defraud or steal from victims is a violation of the wire fraud statute.
- Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) – 47 U.S.C. § 227 – If these communications were made using robocalling technologies or unsolicited calls, they may also violate the provisions of the TCPA, which seeks to prevent harassment and fraud through unlawful automated calls.
By facilitating the use of this phone number, Lumen Technologies appears to be providing the telecommunications infrastructure enabling this unlawful activity, making your company potentially complicit in these violations. As such, I request the following actions be taken immediately:
- Immediate Disconnection – Terminate the telephone number 208-806-4706 and prevent any further fraudulent activity from being perpetrated through this line.
- Investigation and Accountability – Provide a detailed report on your investigation into the origin of this fraudulent use of your services and any actions taken to prevent further violations.
- Preservation of Records – Preserve all records and logs related to this phone number, including but not limited to call logs, associated account information, and any communications related to this matter, until further legal action has been concluded.
- Notification – Notify me of your actions taken in response to this demand within 10 business days of receiving this letter.

I got the same burner text, but he said he was PP when I called. As Tilli said, this moron was beyond stone stupid and not worth my time. This was a Tylenol call.
