hello
you could say that i’m new, although i have been thinking about scambaiting since 2020 and have even almost attempted to start doing that when i made an account on bobrtc that i never used, although delayed the opportunity a lot because i felt nervous to talk with scammers, and maybe even also because i didn’t really plan anything out at all
now, though, i (probably, if i have spare time) want to try and see if i can overcome my anxiety by using a voip service that is the best
many will say google voice, others textnow, and even ones i’ve never heard of before, but ultimately, i’m pretty much just sticking with what my brain thinks is recommended the best
anyways, i might likely experiment between the big guns… google voice and textnow, until i determine which is the best, and possibly during that time and after, i could consider using a vpn, although i’m just wondering if it’s really that necessary
i’m probably just going to stick with the basics and simply call them disguised as some fictional character or whatever, but even then, i feel like a question in my mind being if i really need a vpn regardless of how i scambait is important or not probably won’t be answered from the already existing sources i have
the scambaiting guide says that a vpn is optional, but other sources say it isn’t, which makes the decision harder
i appreciate any helpful answers, thanks!
I highly recommend you getting a VPN, because I’ve seen some scammers ddos baiter IPs. Scammers won’t do anything else unless you’re in India, but overall baiting with a vpn is much safer.
ah, alright
however, i also have the tor browser
does that do any good too if i can’t afford a vpn or are skeptical about any free ones?
also, when i do use textnow, is there some way that i could probably connect a vpn to the app, or is there a sort of subsystem that allows the app to just control a similar potential for my ip address?
proton vpn is a good option. plenty of baiters that dont want to spend money use it.
you know what? right before you posted what you stated, i actually downloaded proton
thank you for the recommendation
Proton and Windscribe are good free VPNs. I also use Mullvad which allows for 100% anonymous signup and payment.
I also use Windscribe Pro with a residential and datacenter static IP for things that require a clean IP or restricted access from known safe IPs
When dealing with scammers yes a VPN is a must got to be smart about this I don’t think youd want them finding your real information.
