The thing that bothers me the most is that I have somewhat of a hard time determining if some people that sound American/speak good English answer the phone, whether it’s legit or not. I do know that when I hear the BLEEP sound and/or hear a lot of people in the background then I know it’s a scam. Being a FF/EMT for 15+years it’s very hard for me to talk to people to determine whether or not there’re criminals or not. If anyone can give me some tips so I can actually talk to them, instead of hanging up once they answer, that would be great.
If you want you can message me the number before you call it and I’ll explain what scam it is to you so you’re prepared. Just send me the post.
Suspect everything & everyone. Even legitimate business can be selling snake-oil.
Very legitimate concern, sometimes we might assume things and that makes it difficult to determine. One tip I can give you is, that once they answer you can start talking to them and just be vague. For example if you are talking to someone from “Amazon”, maybe say that you are concerned about your account. Then segway into telling them you think someone stole your password, from there they will ask you your info (of course you will provide fake information) and if they just confirm all your wrong info ,then they are scammin’
Also use this forum, like @NoMoScammers said, sometimes bouncing off someone else when in doubt is the best.
