Scammers ip story

Scammers said that they got my IP, and told me to wait 30 minutes. Is this real?

@Techguy989#80611 Unless they were remotely connected to you computer (or virtual machine), he’s just making things up. Even if he did manage to obtain your IP address through a remote desktop application (it’s not possible to do this with all them, only some), you don’t have much to worry about. I see this was two hours ago, well past the time at which the guy said something would apparently happen, but if you are experiencing some sort of attack from him (DoS/DDoS most likely) then log onto your routers web GUI (the IP address of your router will be listed as the default gateway under your OS’s network settings for the currently active network interface, usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254), once you’ve logged in, under Internet/WAN settings, see if there’s an option to release and then renew your public IP address; if you don’t see that option then you may also try changing the MAC address of your router, unplugging it for a few hours (or overnight), or if the situation becomes dire - contact your ISP and ask them to change it for you.

Thank you so much! It has been the next day and nothing has happened. So yeah. He’s making things up and he was using GoToAssist.
