Scambaiting tips

So, I’ve been scambaiting for a bit now, but I’ve not been able to keep them on call for too long before they catch on (My personal record is half an hour on call with a scammer) does anyone have any tips they could share?

Let them connect to your virtual machine. If they tell you login to Amazon or bank, provide fake id, pwd and say your accounts hacked. Let them show you netstat, tree commands.

Also depends on the scammer. I had one call center connect to my VM, show me the netstat, do the dir all display and at the end say there’s CP on my computer and I’ve been hacked. Showed me prefetch files (which I didn’t know about so I learned something). They took their time to make it look legit. Then I get on to the next guy, they spoof the chase bank toll free number pretend to be Chase bank. They ended up asking me to wire $50,000 to a bank account. I was on the phone for over two and half hours before I ended up swearing at them in Hindi.

Then another day I call a different scammer and they did a similar scam, asked for gift cards rather than wire money and they did it all within a half hour. They were so lazy they didn’t even connect to a computer before telling me there’s CP on my computer. I was seriously pissed off how lazy those guys were.

Welcome!

Thanks! Usually I don’t deal with Tech support scams, or refund scams, but this’ll seriously help when I do!

If you don’t use a VM, I recommend PCH/Sweepstakes type scammers. A good scambaiter playing the victim can keep them going for hours - days - weeks, or more.
