Hi Everyone! I am new to this site so I hope I am posting this in the right location. If not I can move it elsewhere but I was recommended by a friend to check this site and post all the info I had about a recent scam I avoided.
I posted an iPhone through the LetGo app and within about an hour received a message from what seemed like an interested party. He asked about the condition of the phone then stated he was interested and wanted my number. Not thinking I provided him my phone number and he texted me stating he wanted me to ship the phone to his brother claiming he would pay through paypal. I was hesitant but the texts seemed harmless and offered to work it out. I provided my paypal email and within a few minutes received an email that (at a quick glance) seemed legit.
Fiirst thing I noticed was the shipping address he sent was in Nigeria. Next was the email used a gmail domain. When I questioned him through text he stopped responding all together. I reported his profile through LetGo and has since been deleted but I wanted to post all the other info I had somewhere in hopes to prevent (or at least slow down) his little ruse. All the information I gathered is bellow.
