I used to use a Dating app that my dad has heard of and they even have a TV commercial. The app is called POF or Plenty of Fish. I haven’t been on the app in a while and have at least one account on there. Today at 12:30pm I got a text message to my phone number from a scammer who said she saw my Profile on Plenty of Fish. I never give out my phone number and only use it to secure my account or verify I’m a real person. Anyways this is what the scammer said.

“Hello, I am responding to your email to my personals Plenty of Fish ad. I am glad that we seem to be seeking the same thing. I guess I should tell you a little about me, my name is Kelly, I'm easy on the eyes and in good shape, adventurous and I like to dance. I've just been living here for a few months, I am still getting used to the area. I recently ended a longterm relationship and don't want to get into another, I'm just looking for one guy for recurring no strings encounters. I'd like to get to know you a little first, I've got an account on CasLocals.com I am Kelly954. I have more pictures and a few videos as well as more about myself on there. I'm sending you a picture right now, if you like it I guess I will hear from you soon.”

She even sent a picture.

it seems like every legit dating app has scammers in it, skout is full of them.

@Angeld40#120316 Its true. Large legitimate companies are never going to get around the fact that scammers are going to use their platform. Its just something that happens when you have a social media platform. Now what companies should do is push for more education which is what some companies have done. And a few websites have allowed people to upload a photo of themselves doing a certain pose to verify they say who they say they are. Im also not trying to deny that there aren’t fake dating sites out there. Which there are, I’ve covered a few of them in previous posts.

Match had a lawsuit filed against them for fake profiles. Scammers are still on there.
