A European scam for once.
I have been receiving calls where people aggressively try to make me sign-up for a financial service where they promise 20% - 30% return of investment per month (LOL).
They call from +43 720 145393 which is a VOIP number belonging to to www.didww.com which is just a VoIP provider.
It's not possible to call the number back, only outbound. The scammers try to make people sign up at www.hbc-markets.com and make a downpayment with credit card of 200€. The scammer even offered to connect to my computer to help me make the payment, using AnyDesk.
AnyDesk link is on the website, so that seems to be a standard practice, presumably they also lock the computer if you don't make the payment, but I haven't gotten that far.
The scam violates a dozen European laws, from laws regarding the offering / selling of financial product to GDPR.
The scammers talked German with a slight accent and one time called me 1 hour earlier than agreed, so they are likely sitting in Ireland, UK or Portugal, which are all -1h from my time zone.
The local police told me they can't / won't do anything, which I find bizarre, because we are not talking about scammers from another continent, they are literally a 2h flight away and within the European Union.
What is the best approach now, especially if I get a call back?
