Scam baiting in Canada. Does it work?

I’ve recently developed the hobby of scam baiting and am trying to phone up some numbers. But even though I have seen posts saying this number works, I have dialed it with no success, I am wondering if it has something to do with my location because I’ve noticed on the pop up websites, they say “US” next to the number. If this is true, can someone recommend a strategy to get Canadian numbers? Thank you!

i live in Canada and i can’t ever get them to pick up lol so I’m not sure it’s your location that’s the problem

An overwhelming majority of the scammers will still answer regardless of where the number seems to be coming from. As far as numbers not working, that is the goal. If it’s shut down by the time you get to it, that’s a good thing.

It works just like USA. FOR CRA scams it is even easier, just use your caller ID of Canada prefixes prefixes. Please explain what goes wrong.

It works to scambait, but you have to answer right away after the recording. They seem to disconnect the shown phone number pretty fast.

Had a few laughs:

I'm French Canadian and I still haven't found a single CRA scammer that knows that French is an official language in Canada...When I ask to be served in French, they always tell me it's impossible in Canada. (It's actually a legal obligation for all levels of governments here.) I get a laugh out of it and a hang up!

Oh and I've also been threatened with the Federal Canadian Police...Not the RCMP, which I think is kinda well known for the hats and horses! Told one I didn't believe he was an officer and I wouldn't do a thing until the cops got to my door with the case number...That was in end of March...Still waiting! I mean, he has my address if he really has my SSN!

If you want to have fun, have huskies' background noise, saying it's the kennel intercom! I did it to one, he gave up and hung up! I told him I had to make sure they were in shape because they pulled my sleigh to work every morning.
