Roomi app - 267-773-6331

I posted a room for rent on the Roomi App. A girl named “Sarah” said she was deaf and needed a place to move to in Atlanta. After having a conversation of living in California and moving to Atlanta for her masters, i noticed they wouldn’t tell me where they are going for their masters nor any further information on identity. From the number 267-773-6331, They sent an Driver license ID picture of someone named “Sarah Costello Smith” - DL F359****. “She” asked for my address to mail her first months deposit and rent without even knowing anything else about the location/ if its close to their school or job. After I said no, i need to do a background check and asked for any social media confirmation of identity, they then deleted their profile and said they already provided the Drivers License. I’m reporting them wherever i can

Hmm called it … Man answered … Sounded foreign… I just said hello … Hello … He says what do u want gonna check this number on fastsearch …

Checked fastsearch … No results for this number …

Seems they do the “secret shopper” scam too, found this report of a “Walmart Survey Assignment” :

@koryn123#135820 Just goes to voice mail now, with some guy doing the outgoing message - I think he says his name, but I can’t really make it out. First sign that “Sarah” might be bogus is the drivers license - If her last name was “Smith”, then it should have started with an “S” not an “F”.

I wonder what kind of scam she was planning? Maybe sending you a forged check, and then backing out and asking that you refund her the money? It can sometimes take weeks before you find out the check they sent was bad, and by that time, you have already sent the money back.
