I can verify that 844-403-8030 is still up and running. (Where is the real Roku?) They take you to what they claim is a Roku central server. (Roku.EKHELP.NET) This downloads software onto your computer for locking the system. What they do is claim that your account has to be shut down (because it’s been “compromised”) and they want you to log into your bank for a refund. They then “accidentally” deposit $10000 in your account. (You actually see a picture of your account with an extra $10000.) They then block your account until you agree to go to your bank and withdraw the $10000. (In the end, when they wanted me to go to my bank, I knew it was a fraud and hung up. )
-if you log into your bank account on another computer, you see that your account is intact.
-They download a Screen lock program. (It’s actually the demo of the software so it stopped working after a few reboots.)
-I had an Acronis image of my disk from the day before. Just to be safe, I erased the disk and replaced the image.
