On May 7, 2026, New York State Police arrested 29-year-old Jamaica, Queens resident Roger K. Flemming for facilitating a grandparent scam against a Saratoga County elder. How the scam worked was
- Flemming would call his victim to falsely claim a family member of theirs was arrested after a car crash and needed money for bail.
- The victim will be asked to withdraw $3,000 from their bank account and hand it off to Flemming directly.
- Once the money is collected, Flemming will return to the house and demand more money from the victim.
Flemming is currently being held without bail in the Saratoga County Jail on charges of grand larceny and attempted grand larceny.
