Legit or not, the fact is they make it nearly impossible to opt out, and that the FCC doesnt do anything about it. It makes me wonder who is lining the pockets of the gvt.
who benefits from scam calls?
#1 - telecomm carriers - scam calls generate money for them just the same as junk mail
#2 - it is a major industry in the USA. States like Florida have massive call centers. Huge tax dollars. Shut them all down and you would have an unemployment issue. It is that big, lots of people out of work is a big hit to the economy.
#3 - the cost to enforce current laws and regulations are to high. As long as operations don't get too big, it's allowed. There are more serious crimes that law enforcement deals with every day.
The best way the people can combat the problem is contacting their AG or filing a class action lawsuit against the carriers.
