On May 18, 2026, the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office in Florida arrested 39-year-old Norcross, Georgia resident Robert Reyes for serving as a “key financial conduit” for a criminal network responsible for facilitating “jury duty” scams, where
- The scammers would call their victims under the false personation of law enforcement officers, threatening to arrest their victims or a loved one of theirs for “missing a mandatory court appearance.”
- To avoid these arrests, the victims will be asked to make immadiate payments to the scammers.
Reyes is currently being held in St. Lucie County on charges of
- Organized fraud under $20,000
- 3rd-degree grand theft
- Violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.
