If I get an e-mail used in Zelle or a WhatsApp number, is there any value in reporting it?
Do they actually take action or not really?
WhatsApp does take action. I reported a scammer once, and the scammer emailed me later asking why I reported them. I asked WhatsApp why the scammer knew, and they sent me a template response saying something along the lines of “we detected suspicious activity in your account, but thanks for appealing and we just unbanned you”
I have no idea what account they unbanned, but it’s ridiculous that they let me appeal on behalf of some random idiot with no proof to back it up.
interesting, ive reported the twitter “hacker” scammers to whatsapp in the app with reported messages and absolute silence and i when i added the number on a diffrent whatsapp account it was still there with all the “buisness” details. as for the zelle i also would like to know if that is usefull as sometimes i can push a zelle email out of them.
I pushed two different money mules’ address and full names out when they originally were only willing to give me a Bitcoin wallet address.
