I have an ad on Gumtree, a wanted ad, as I am looking for a house or bungalow to rent. I got a text from someone, asking for my email. She sent lots of lovely pictures, said she’d moved up north and just wanted someone to look after her house. The deposit was very low, which was a red flag, especially as she asked no questions about my pets. Anyway, I asked to make an appointment to come and see the house and she said great, but she’d been messed about so much and she wanted to be sure I was serious. She wanted the deposit before viewing, which she would definitely refund if I didn’t want the house.
I wasn't born yesterday so I googled her name and found the remains of an ad someone had put on Gumtree warning about this very woman. Apparently, she'd tried the same thing with him, so he smelled a rat and went to visit the house. He found out the owner lived there and had never heard of this woman.
Sorry, should be scam, not scame
I've got her hanging on at the moment. She said she would send me her ID and Certificate of Ownership. Of course, there is no such thing in England, so I'm waiting to see what she comes up with.
I'm new to this forum so not sure of the etiquette. This is her name and email address:
