Scam Number: (802) 659-4570
Scammer’s Website or Email: Unknown - the email I received the PDF from was likely a compromised one.
Additional information about this scam: I called the number and was told I’d need to have a computer in front of me to receive the refund form. I told them I’d "call back later.
Level 3 via Skype, answers as “Norton Lifelock” and is presumed to operate from an apartment.
The scammer falsely claimed Norton services were activated on my computer, then falsely claimed someone used my identity was used to purchase Bitcoin (a common claim used by PayPal scammers).
In order to “cancel,” I was asked to “open the Google Chrome” and download AweSun (ID: DESKTOP-L6UKTR9, DESKTOP–76LGD5N)
Once they remotely connected to my virtual machine, I was asked to fill out a “cancellation application form” and log into my nonexistent bank account to “accept the E-check.”
As I don’t do online banking, I was asked to use my nonexistent debit card on webcamtoy.com, then open Notepad to provide my debit card details so I can receive a “verification link” through SMS.
I gave the bhenchod false information and told him I was using an old flip phone to prevent him from asking me to download AnyDesk for my cell phone.
He then proceeded to “remove” the “Norton Firewall” with the “tree” command in the Command Prompt, then “restate” my computer by blanking my screen so he can find the website for my nonexistent bank, so I reset my virtual machine and played him the Bhenchod Song.
For the first time, I called from my TextNow number and after a couple of rings I got a robotic voice that said, “Sorry, you’re call cannot be completed.”
Just now I called from my TextMe number but after a number of rings the call ended of its own accord I guess.
I have the time AND energy today to mess with some criminals yet I am having trouble today finding some scammers who are ACTUALLY trying to SCAM!!!
