On April 3, 2025, the Bidhannagar Police in Kolkata, West Bengal, India raided an illegal call center operating out of the 6th floor of the east tower of the Mani Casadona business complex in New Town for scamming American citizens by fraudulently posing as US law enforcement agencies. While most of their employees locked the office and fled, police were able to arrest their kingpin Rajesh Thevar under several sections of the BNS related to cheating and operating without a license.
Police have also seized seven smartphones and one laptop from the call center.
I wonder how that was allowed to happen
