Team SDS and scammer.info is saddened to report to you all that our dear friend and fellow staff member @R11R, real name Remi, has sadly passed away from brain cancer at 28 years of age.
He was best known for creating Demurrage, a group of people dedicated to reporting scam numbers to their respective carriers, and even helped create our special PBX phone system, which has honestly been my go-to tool for helping investigate and trace scam organizations back to their source.
Our good friend @NoPE said it best: “Heroes will be remembered, but legends never die.” And as someone who too has lost a friend due to cancer at a young age, I give my sincere condolences to Remi’s family and friends, as well as members of the scambaiting community at large.
R11R was a very valued member of the scambait community. In addition to what was said earlier, he was a moderator on BobRTC and a regular in the BobRTC Pit where we enjoyed hours of daily scambaits. He was a good Number Hunter and reported countless numbers to carriers. Although he was often soft-spoken, scammers really hated him. He played my grandson on many baits, and I loved working with him. Actually, it was more than that, I loved him, and there are others here and in other servers who felt the same way. He had a kind, forgiving nature and always tried to see the good in others. He will be missed:heart:
Totally unscripted, R1 made me have to choke back laughter in the beginning of this call when he responds to the scammer’s question.
I’ve taken a few days before writing this because I wanted to make sure the words came from the right place.
Losing R11R has hit our community harder than I think any of us were prepared for. He wasn’t just a great baiter—he was one of those rare people who made this strange, specialized corner of the internet feel like a real community. He was steady, sharp, funny when you needed it and always willing to help. An asset to the cause, yes—but more importantly, a genuinely good guy.
This year has been brutal. Losing PecanHead, then Zip, and now R11R… it’s been a kind of grief most people outside this world wouldn’t understand. They see usernames; we knew the people behind them. We laughed with them, learned from them, fought the good fight with them. And now we carry their absence along with the work they cared about.
My heart goes out to their families and to everyone here who is hurting. We’ve always said scam-baiting is about more than wasting scammers’ time—it’s about protecting the vulnerable. These three embodied that spirit completely. Their impact won’t fade.
The community feels smaller without them, but the legacy they leave behind should remind us why we keep doing this. And why we keep holding onto each other.
Rest well, Remi. You made a difference—more than you probably ever knew.
This is heartbreaking to me as I interacted with Remi many times. He taught me and also made me laugh. He had soothing/healing words for me when I lost a dear friend and my support cat at the same time. Your memory and legacy will live on forever my Brother as I bow to you in honor.
